Light Organ

The light organ is an instrument which combines analog dimmers, switches and foot pedals with a computer program using four hanging fluorescent lamps as its sound source. Piezoelectric discs amplify the flow of electricity to each lamp, in this case 50 hz, but by manipulating the voltage sent to each lamp, spectral changes emerge. Additionally, four foot pedals are used to control a pitch shifting algorithm, allowing for very primitive four voice polyphony.
